The late David Bowie’s album Blackstar is also up for the gong, as well as The 1975’s I Like It When You Sleep For You Are Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. Zayn’s Pillowtalk is in competition with Little Mix’s Shout Out To My Ex, a song that fans believe is partly inspired by the ex-One Direction member. The Best International Female category sees Beyonce and her sister Solange squaring off against each other, along with other talented artists such as Christine And The Queens, Rihanna, and Sia. Solange, who looks up to her sister as a role model, released her critically acclaimed album, A Seat At The Table, just three days before turning thirty last year. To their credit, Solange and Beyonce are the only sisters to have back-to-back number one albums in the US within a calendar year.

The musician’s makeup looked stunning as she attended the event. The Best British Female Solo Artist award nominees include Anonhni, Ellie Goulding, Emeli Sande, Lianne La Havas, and Nao. Adele is vying for the British Artist Video Of The Year award for her song Send My Love (To Your New Lover), hoping to replicate her recent Grammy success. However, Calvin Harris Feat. Rihanna’s video for This Is What You Came For is a strong contender. Rag ‘N’ Bone Man has already won the Critics Choice award, his first BRIT accolade, with one more award yet to be announced.

The BRITs award is a highly respected recognition given to artists who are predicted to reach the top of their game, previously won by renowned singers like Adele, Sam Smith, and Florence + The Machine. Last year’s winner expressed his surprise and excitement as he found out about his victory, mentioning that he was up against two pop giants. In contrast, Robbie Williams will receive the BRITs Icon Award, marking his 18th BRIT award win, either as a solo artist or part of Take That. Despite being a little puzzled about being selected for the prestigious prize, which Elton John and David Bowie have previously received, he shared in a recent interview with NME how he often feels uncertain about his career. He also humorously pointed out that having 18 BRITs while Paul McCartney doesn’t is odd, but he is grateful and not willing to return them.
